Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 is a top of the line protection that has a huge amount of protection and great virus definitions. Is it the Best Antivirus For 2019? They have came quite a ways over the last few years, and have even taken a huge hit due to the propaganda and scandal about them giving information to the government.

(Updated Jun 25, 2019, removed False Positive ratings as Kaspersky’s newest results show 0 False positives, with 100% detection rate)

Let’s resolve the elephant in the room now, and although I could go over this in extreme detail, the short answer is, Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 is completely safe for any US citizen to use. Not only has Kaspersky proven this is not the case, but they have even changed management to help resolve these concerns for customers. If you still don’t trust the product, I have another great review on Panda Dome 2019.

Back to the Kaspersky Antivirus review; Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 is great protection, and I have run this software in the past and didn’t have any issues with it. The product has some of the best virus definitions and heuristics on the market, but does have less features than some other competing products. Due to the lack of features, Kaspersky is much more competitively priced and provides just as good if not better than other antivirus products on the market.

DETECTION

Update – June 25, 2019 – Removing False Positive score, as third party AV-Comparatives has done new tests that found _0_ false positives and 100% detection score for Kaspersky Antivirus 2019

Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 is one of the most protective antivirus softwares on the market. It has been given extremely high ratings at other sites, and provides the best protection of any other Antivirus on the market. With a 100% detection rate in the Lab at AV-Comparatives, Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 has been given extremely high awards and is a high contender for one of the best antivirus softwares of 2019.

With Kaspersky protecting you in the tests from over 750 malicious pieces of software, Kaspersky Antivirus is one of 3 virus protections this month getting 100% detections in testing.

FEATURES

Kaspersky has a heavy set of features in their protections, but does not include as many features as other antivirus software on the market today. Most of the time, these features are in higher cost products, and are not even necessary to use, or there are better products for just a specific feature.

Firewall – Kaspersky Antivirus includes a firewall in their internet Security suite which provides granular customization and has a easy to use default configuration. Most users will do well with the defaults, but if you host your own games, websites, servers, etc, you may need to make some custom port changes.

Virtual Keyboard – The virtual keyboard protects your passwords from key logging tools and allows you to use the mouse to input your password. Mouse clicks cannot be easily tracked to letters, which makes the virtual keyboard great. All versions of the Kaspersky Suite provides this feature.

Parental Controls – The included Parental Controls allows you to lock down your device for your children’s user accounts, and prevent them from going to certain websites, categories, or only allowing them to load specific applications. It also sets timers, and other functions.

Secure Browser – The Secure Browser in Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 provides a browser that cannot easily be hijacked. This browser has extra protections and opens within a sandbox to protect your PC.

Banner-ad blocker – One of my favorite features, as it blocks ads on websites and prevents them from showing up. Your websites start to look much cleaner and do not have all of the ad clutter that a lot of websites have these days.

Kaspersky Antivirus provides these features, and a few additional features including: System optimizer, Backups, File encryption, File shredder, and a password manager. If you’d like to see additional features and what is included in Kaspersky Antivirus, check out the Kaspersky Website.

Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 Comparison

Performance

Kaspersky Antivirus does cause a little bit of a performance impact, but with todays PC’s this is very difficult to notice. Although I did notice a slight performance impact, Kaspersky still performed extremely fast, and didn’t cause any problems with my system itself, or any errors. Where I did notice some performance impact is during web surfing, the delay was about an additional 1/2 to 1 second as it scans the website for you. This was not significant enough to cause any issues, and is well worth it for the 100% detection rates.

Ease of Use

The Kaspersky antivirus suite was easy to use and did not have a learning curve. All settings are right on the screen that you may need. The user interface walks you through changes you try to make, and helps you correct any issues you may have. If Kaspersky notices that for some reason it has a feature disabled, it will notice you to enable it and help you through the process. The product also will automatically vaccinate and resolve any viruses you do get on the system.

Support:

Unfortunately, the nature of antivirus is that in order to detect the virus, someone has to have the virus on their systems. This means that zero-day attacks, or brand new viruses aren’t protected against. No virus protection can protect against something they don’t know. If you do end up getting an infection, the antivirus software includes support on helping you remove such viruses and clean up your system.

Kaspersky Lab’s support is amazing, as I was able to quickly get someone on the phone and got a email response within 24 hours. Although some antivirus products have been quicker than a 24 hour turn around, Kaspersky is still within an acceptable range for their support.

How much does Kaspersky Antivirus, or the Kaspersky Suite’s cost? $40-$100

Kaspersky Antivirus not only provides some of the best protections on the market, but they also come in at a very competitive price point. They provide you with top of the line protections and amazing support, all in an affordable price. Their product allows for a trial in order to test if the product works for your computer, as well as a competitive price point. All in all, Kaspersky is one of the best antivirus softwares 2019 and rightly deserves so.

  1. Wow, I am not an IT savvy. Thanks for providing such a thorough review of this antivirus software. Before reading this article, I don’t even know about the general features of antivirus software. As an outsider, what factors should I take into consideration when I buy an Antivirus software programme? What are your thoughts on this?

    1. You definitely want to decide what features are important to you and pick your product based on that. You’ll also want to read different reviews and find the products that have great virus detections. Then just pick one 🙂

  2. Hey Don, amazing stuff. I also work in IT and cybersecurity is a huge, huge topic that will only boom in the coming years. With everything going digital, even currencies, I think it’s important for people to realize just how important security is- especially if you’re a small business owner with valuables on your browsers and computer. I have a Mac & will definitely be keeping Kaspersky in mind. Maybe I’ll try the free trial & see how I like it 🙂

    1. Thanks Kristin, great to see a fellow techie around! Hope you liked the review! Let me know how the trial goes for Kaspersky and if you have any questions let me know.

      Thanks,

      Don

  3. It sounds like it covers everything. How often do they come looking for new viruses or right new programs to cover everything that is out there. I have an anti-virus now but when it comes due I may give it a try. How many other anti-virus programs have you tried? Have you ever gotten a virus or similar problem? What other programs are you replacing and why. The 60% off price seems pretty normal for 1 year of anti-virus. Or does it last longer? Will I get an email before it is due so I can budget for it?

    1. Thanks for all of the great questions!

Antivirus software will download new definitions sometimes every hour, this allows the most up to date version.

I’ve tried many different ones, Kaspersky, Panda, McAfee, Symantec, Avira, Total, AVG, Bitdefender, and so many more that I can’t even remember. My favorites are Kaspersky, Panda, and Bitdefender.

Yes, I have gotten a virus before, even as IT professionals, sometimes we’re still tricked. Thats why security is so critical.

You can replace a lot and protect a lot of your systems. Feel free to message me and I can help you out with some more.

The 60% off is pretty inexpensive, it includes up to 3 PC’s i believe.

Yes, Kaspersky does email letting you know they are running out of time to register, and you will also get the notifications on your computers antivirus.

Thanks again for the great questions, if you have any more let me know.

  4. Until this article I was not even aware of Kaspersky Antivirus.  I have just always gone to Norton as the standby but your article has caused me to reconsider.  The price for the options certainly is appealing and with only an approximate 1 second delay for web pages to load is not a factor for me.  I know this review is for Kaspersky but for a novice like me, how does it compare to Norton?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    1. Yikes, i’m sorry! I’m glad you found me then. Norton can sometimes cause a lot of system issues. It’s been known to cause a lot of system slowness, and in the business, Symantec Norton is a lot of times considered just as bad as a virus. With all of that bad stuff out of the way, it’s still better than no antivirus, and it works. They just a lot of times get a bad reputation.

  5. I have been using Kaspersky for years now but lately I was advised to change. But, I want to take my time and research what will be best. So, I am glad to find this post. I have been quite satisfied with the service but lately there is one feature that bothers me. The ad and pop up blocker, can I change this feature when I want? Maybe it is possible but I don’t know how or where to do that, is it?

I see the new updates are good and if I can be able to block and unblock ads and pop ups I will be glad to buy the Kaspersky 2019.

    Thanks

    1. You definitely can, if you go to the bottom right of your screen where the time clock is, you should see the Kaspersky Icon when you hit the little arrow. If you click on that, you can open the settings and disable the Ad Blocker. It can definitely be pretty finicky. I like the protection, but that is one features that can require some work from you. You have to whitelist and allow the sites that are and aren’t allowed to open popups and ads :)…

      Hope that helps,

      Don

  6. I used to have Kaspersky on my old laptop, but had to replace it quickly when it died and Best Buy (where I got the new laptop) no longer offered Kaspersky. Not sure if it was related to the bad publicity that you mentioned, but I was bummed, because I really liked the product. I was thinking about replacing the security product that I got with my current laptop before the upcoming auto-renew date, and after reading this I’m leaning more in that direction. Thanks for posting this, it’s very helpful.

    1. Glad this post helped you Jordan, hope you end up using it. it’s one of the top 3 protections i’d recommend for sure!

      Thanks,

      Don

  7. I have used the Kaspersky Antivirus tools in the past and have had good luck with the versions I installed on various devices. It sounds like the 2019 version is of the same high-quality that the earlier versions have been, My one concern when I last used the tool was the effect on my laptop performance.

Since that time, I have upgraded the laptop and received a free antivirus package from a competitor to Kaspersky so have not needed to change back. I do agree that the money is well worth it as I have had to use the customer support service from Kaspersky and they were great to work with.

Do you get multi-device protection with the 2019 suite package? That is important to me as I have at least 5 devices that I use on a regular basis for my business, and this does not include the VAs and etc. that work with us. For the money, I agree that Kaspersky Antivirus 2019 is a great deal.

    1. Yes, it looks like the deal includes the 3PC for 29.99, or you can do 5 PC’s for 39.99 (current prices June 25th 2019)… There’s also higher upgrades than that at the 10PCs if needed.

      Don

  8. From what I gather in your review, the best feature here would be the rich parental control. It’s not that I don’t trust my kids but it’s much better if they don’t accidentally go to any suspicious or malicious website by accident. Also, we want restriction when it comes to computers. Setting up a timer can actually help them in time management between researching for their assignment and playing games.

Of course, we shouldn’t also forget Kaspersky’s main functions such as webcam, anti-theft, phishing and spyware protection. I am not adept to functionalities of programs but I know these functions are one of the basic needs of computer. Thanks for this full review, Kaspersky is definitely one of best antivirus there is.

  9. Hi! I believe in this software and year after year have been paying my subscription. I like its new interface, most is white and there is less green than in previous versions.

And the parental control does a wonderful job. I understand they have a database where they block those specific sites.

I agree with you, it’s one of the best antivirus softwares in 2019.
