How important is Anonymity? – Best VPN Providers 2019

Best VPN

Do you have fears of being tracked online, and hackers seeing your data? Do you fear for your privacy and financial data? You aren’t alone, as many people have these fears online. All of these concerns are real, and they definitely should be as you definitely are being tracked online.

Below I will explain what a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is, as well as go over the Best VPN Providers 2019 and Best VPN Software 2019. This will include my personal reviews of the providers and software.

Is my Privacy at risk online?

Your privacy is definitely at risk online. Not only do you have to worry about your traffic being monitored from bad guys, but also from companies you trust. Your Internet provider can see anything and everything you do online, and logs all browsing data.

Although you don’t have to worry about someone at AT&T or Comcast sitting there watching you every day, they do log this traffic and can sometimes attempt to sell your information to companies that want to spam you. This will allow companies to target you based on your browsing habits and make marketing campaigns for you. This is why a VPN is becoming more and more important.

What is a VPN?

A VPN is software that can keep your online behaviors private and secure by tunneling your traffic through secure methods. Typically, you will connect to the internet through your internet provider, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc on mobile devices, which then gives you connection to websites you are visiting, etc.

With a VPN, you will instead connect through your internet provider to a secure server run by the VPN provider, which directs your traffic through them to your websites, etc. The VPN makes you anonymous by acting as a secure gateway that cannot be read by anyone, unless they know or break your private key.

VPN connections can protect you from all sorts of scenarios including but not limited to:

  • Public Wifi (Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc)
  • Remote workers from home
  • When you want privacy
  • During travel

How do I choose a VPN provider/service?

Choosing a VPN provider or service in 2019 can be difficult due to the vast amount of different choices. You need to be careful on the VPN you choose as some can be a scam, including many “FREE” VPN options. Free a lot of times has added cost. You need to also make sure that a VPN service does not log data, as this data could be provided to law inforcement with a subpoena, and defeats some of the purpose of a VPN.

Below I will go over some of the VPN services I have personally used and looked over to make sure they are secure and safe.

  1. Thanks for the excellent post explaining the benefits of VPN and how to evaluate a service. I jumped around quite a few service providers before setting on Nord myself. I love their speed (most important I guess) and security protocols. Also having evaluated most services Nord offers great value for money. Finally the entertainment freak in me loves the geographical coverage of Nord with servers in most locations, I can access georestricted TV from whichever country I want.
    Thanks again for the share

  2. Yes,

Cyber security is very important for us as online marketers or users..

I first became aware of cyber hacking between companies while travelling to my friend’s wedding in 2016..

The cab driver had the news on and there it was –  “Cyber hacking between companies is on the rise….” Fortunately, I have close friends and family who are IT experts and networkers who told me how to keep my computer secure and also where to buy a VPN service.

One friend pays £40 yearly.  Compared to Nord, would you say that is expensive or just right?

    1. Stella,

Thanks so much for stopping by. Yes Cyber Security has been getting worse and worse. Consistently there is always a threat. I don’t think that’s a terrible price per year, but it just depends on what VPN service it is. Sometimes the lower priced ones aren’t as good. Everyone has to make money somehow, and sometimes that includes selling information unfortunately. NordVPN does NOT do that.

  3. I had already been hearing good things about NordVPN before I came across your post. It has been something I have been thinking about for some time now. Especially with Cyber crime becoming so everyday and all day. I do worry about using my devices especially outside of my home. I have already book marked your post.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Lee! I’m glad my post can be of use. I really hope you enjoy NordVPN and keep coming to the site, I should have more reviews as I try new products out!

  4. I’ve heard about persons having their data stolen. Listening to them describe their experience and subsequent trauma in attempting to secure their information helped me to realize how important it is that I secure mine. Until now, I have not been able to find a relatively cheap way to secure my data. Thank you for sharing this information. I was wondering however, is there a way to tell if your VPN has violated their own policy and is sharing my information with others?

    1. Hi Russell,

Unfortunately there isn’t a easy way to tell if a company is luring. My only hope is that at some point it comes out, because they’d be breaking people’s trust for sure.

  5. Hi,

Great article at the time when cyber crime is escalating and getting more advanced and undermining the risk prevention efforts.  People get their identities and money stolen through scams.  Most ways of stealing your data seems legit.  Companies do the same to market their products, they also share your information with other service providers, and criminals use these channels, making it difficult to protect your data.   I hope many people read this article.

    All the best,

    Sandikazi

  6. This sounds like something that is definitely worth while.  I did go to the website.  I have one question that maybe I am just not seeing.  If I pay the monthly fee, does that cover all of my devices, or do I have to pay separately for each device?  I love the idea of being protected and not tracked by hackers.  This is great information!  And the price, not bad at all really.  If it covers all devices, that would be even better!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Yes, it does protect you for all devices with the same account. You only need to pay once. Thanks for reaching out and stopping by!

    1. Unfortunately it is at the customers expense though. NordVPN is definitely a great product. Keep a eye on my next reviews for VPNs, I have 2 more I am working on! 🙂 They’re good as well, but Nord is still the best and fastest.
